The Beauty in Paying Attention
When we pay attention sometimes we tap into joy from unexpected places,
ways, and even creatures.
at a picnic table tying away on my laptop.
Upon scanning the park, and looking at the waterfront that was across from my picnic table I could not believe my eyes...look what I beheld.
Yes, indeed it was a turtle heading my way, to pay me a visit.
I am accustomed to turtles hiding in their shell and shying away from the public however,
this was not the case for this turtle
as the little creature
appeared to be on a mission.
I thought to myself what if I was not paying attention to that which is happening all around me. I found insight in simply stopping what I was doing in the moment and merely appreciating the visit from the turtle even though its exploration of the park had nothing to do with me.
There truly is so much value in simply paying attention and being present to what comes across our path even when its a turtle.
I found so much joy watching the turtle move about the park searching for food to eat. |
For the first time I saw the eyes of a turtle up close and personal as it did not appear to be startled by my presence.
I thought to myself what a gift it is to stop and behold all forms of life that surrounds me.
So the next time you are perhaps getting out of your car, or walking down your neighborhood street, or waiting for the light to
change at a stop light,
I invite you to pay more attention to some kind of subtle beauty whether it is the blue sky or little creature that may be crossing your path whether it is a Sandhill Crane, Peacock, the birds flying in the sky.
There is always a gift to be received when we merely stop and pay attention.
